Beerflation: The cost of a pint near every Premier League stadium in 2026

Stadium and pint glass

Few rituals feel as essential to matchday as a pint before kick-off, whether it’s enjoyed inside the ground or at the local a few streets away. But while a pre-match pint is a fixture of the football experience, the price can vary dramatically depending on where you choose to drink.

New research from credit card experts Zable has analysed the average cost of a pint at pubs near every Premier League stadium, also comparing these prices with those inside each ground to reveal where fans could save by heading to the pub.

Where can you find stadium pint prices to be cheaper than surrounding pubs?

While heading to the pub might seem like the obvious way to avoid inflated stadium prices, the data reveals that this isn't always the case. At eight of the 20 clubs analysed, fans can actually get a cheaper pint inside the stadium than at a nearby pub.

Ipswich Town offers the biggest saving, with a pint at Portman Road costing just £3.50 compared with £5.27 at pubs nearby. That's a saving of £1.77 per pint, or 33.54%. Hull City follows, with a stadium pint costing £3.90 compared with £4.70 at nearby pubs, while Coventry fans can save 56p by drinking inside the CBS Arena.

So while stadium drinks often get a bad rap for their prices, the data suggests fans shouldn't automatically assume the pub is the cheaper option. Whether you're heading for a pre-match pint, grabbing a drink at half-time or celebrating after the final whistle, the cheapest option isn't always where you'd expect it to be.

Adam McAllister at Zable says:

"For many fans, grabbing a pint before kick-off is part and parcel of the matchday experience, but our research shows that where you choose to drink can make a noticeable difference to the price. While stadium pints are often assumed to be more expensive, that's not always the case.

"With the cost of attending football continuing to add up, from tickets and travel to food and drinks, small differences like these can make a real impact on the overall cost of a matchday. Taking a little time to compare prices before heading to the stadium this season could help fans make their money go further, whether they choose to have a pint at the pub or inside the ground."

Methodology:

Zable analysed all 20 2026/2027 Premier League teams, recording the price of the cheapest draught beer at pubs near each stadium. Pubs within a mile were prioritised; however, where stadiums have limited pubs nearby (e.g Amex Stadium), those at a further distance were used. Five pubs per team were analysed, equalling 100 pubs in total. To avoid skewing results, Wetherspoons pubs were removed from the ranking.

The cost of a pint within each stadium was taken from Seat Pick (Football Ground used for Ipswich Town, Hull City and Coventry City stadiums).

All data collected in August 2026.
